Plot[]
JT is doomed to a safehouse-hopping existence until Vincent and Catherine deal with Liam. Vincent and Cat don’t have to worry about finding Liam, because Liam finds them. He shows up at Il Cantuccio, interrupts Cat and Heather’s lunch and demands a private audience with Cat. He suggests getting arrested and/or killing everyone to get some privacy. Catherine chooses to take Liam to the precinct. Vincent shows up because Liam summoned him “beast to beast”. He claims they have dog hearing. He breaks out of his cuffs and tells Cat not to be afraid. Vincent storms in all glowy-eyed and ready to pounce but Cat says “not here”. Liam mocks Vincent and Cat’s relationship. He says Vincent should accept that beasts will be beasts. Liam’s lawyer shows up. When Cat and Vincent ask who would defend him, Tess explains Liam has the protection of a renowned philanthropist family: The Ellingsworths. Vincent and Catherine enter her apartment to find JT hanging from the ceiling on a stool and Liam sitting in a chair holding the rope. Liam kicks the stool over to test Vincent’s reflexes which he deems as “slow”. Liam wants Vincent’s help breaking into DHS to destroy Alton’s blood samples which may lead to his blood and Vincent’s blood. Liam blurs and Vincent goes after him. Once alone, Liam informs Vincent that JT is dying from serum poisoning. Liam is a little surprised that Vincent can’t smell it. Vincent tells Catherine and JT that he will play double agent with Liam so they can figure out his end game. When Vincent asks JT about his health, JT admits he has known for a while. Another thing JT was keeping is that he doesn’t remember where he hid the gem. After a talk with Tess, JT remembers he hid it in a safety deposit box at the Club but which one is anyone’s guess. Liam takes Vincent to a pre-break-in game of pool. Liam wants Vincent to embrace his nature and let go of Catherine who has him on a leash. At the Gentlemen’s Club, Tess finds a basket of bloody tissues and asks JT what is going on. JT finds the gem and uses it to change the subject. Across town, Catherine wants to get to Helen Ellingsworth. Cat wants to convince Helen to withdraw her protection. If Liam breaks into DHS, Cat can catch him in the act and arrest him. Cat manages to infiltrate the private party and find Helen. Cat tries to give Helen a flash-drive containing Liam’s file. Helen won’t turn on Liam because he is her brother. Across from the DHS building, Liam says Vincent has to let go of Catherine’s love to make the impossible jump. Liam makes the jump easily. Vincent makes the jump as well but doesn’t land as gracefully. Vincent gets upset when he realises Liam lured him into the DHS under false pretences. The DHS never had Vincent’s blood. Liam just wanted an excuse to awaken his beast side. But they don’t have time to argue because SWAT is on site. Cat asks JT to debunk the DNA test and prove that Liam is not Helen’s brother. JT realizes that Liam is Helen’s ancestor. Heather remembers why Liam looks familiar: she saw his picture when she investigated the Reynolds’ family tree. He was the other beast hunting Alistair and Rebecca. And Liam was engaged to Rebecca before she left him for Alistair. JT explains that means Beasts can live as long as whales. Liam escapes through the window, but not before giving Vincent an ultimatum “you are either with me or against me”. Vincent follows Liam because his other option is to be arrested for Liam’s crimes. Liam takes it as a sign that Vincent is “with him”. Vincent throws him out of the roof without a warning. Unfortunately, Liam lands on his feet. Catherine gets out of the building just in time to see Vincent not cross over to the beast side. Cat smiles up at Vincent relieved. Back at the Chandler apartment, Vincent lets Cat and Heather know that Liam’s motive is revenge, but for what is unclear. Vincent says whatever it is, it pre-dates Rebecca. Heather found out that Liam was put in an orphanage when he was a kid in the 1800s. She finds his photograph in a London newspaper in the 1850s. As the episode ends, JT and Tess have an emotional conversation at the Gentlemen’s Club. In the middle of the commotion Tess found out that JT might be dying. JT doesn’t want to be vulnerable, but Tess assures him that she loves him no matter what and she wants him to let her in. JT has faith that he will find a way to beat the serum. |
