VINCENT'S LATEST MISSION GOES HORRIBLY WRONG --- Cat (Kristin Kreuk) confronts her birth father (guest star Ted Whitall) about the mysterious role he's played in her life, while Vincent (Jay Ryan) has to neutralize a high-profile beast. In the process of doing so, Vincent finds himself rescuing Tori (guest star Amber Skye Noyes), a damsel in distress, who may be the key to completing his mission. Sendhil Ramamurthy, Austin Basis and Nina Lisandrello also star. Paul Kaufman directed the episode written by Brad Kern and Roger Grant (#206).
Plot[]
Vincent has a series of Catherine flashbacks (anniversary, car rescue, train scene, etc.)
A very happy Vincent goes to see Cat, who is taking her daddy issues out on her punching bag. Vincent lets Cat unload all her frustrations. Vincent shares his new memories with her. Cat is thrilled to hear he is getting bits and pieces of their shared past, they kiss. Vincent reminds Cat that there are only âtwo more beastsâ on the blacklist and then he âis outâ. He even has a celebration planned.
At the precinct Gabe has made Joeâs office beast headquarters. Gabe concludes that Vincentâs demise might come after he whacks the last two beasts. Gabe is still invested in âsaving Vincent for Catâ.
Curt Windsor, multimillionaire Muirfield investor, decided to profit from Muirfieldâs research and become an âenhancedâ human himself. His beast DNA was dormant until 3 years ago. Windsor is a widower. He overprotects his daughter, Tori.
Catherine tells Reynolds she wants to meet for coffee and chat about âabout why youâve been hiding the truth from me⊠DADâ.
That night Tori is on her balcony when Vincent sneaks in to take care of Windsor. However Vincent is taken off guard by Curtâs beast strength. They beast fight and freak the hell out of Tori. Curt grabs Tori by the neck and demands to know if she let the other beast in. Vincent grabs Tori gets out of the apartment. Windsorhowls.
At the coffee shop, Reynolds tells Cat he met Vanessa when they were very young and they âfell madly in loveâ. They found out she was pregnant after they broke up. By then Vanessa was already engaged to Thomas who offered to raise the child as his own. Cat asks him about Muirfield and he denies knowing anything about it. She doesnât have much time to press it because they learn about Toriâs kidnapping so Cat takes off. Reynolds gets a call from Vincent. Bob scolds him for kidnapping Tori; but Vincent rationalizes it as âsaving herâ from Windsorâs âcontrolâ.
Cat goes to Vincentâs boathouse to talk but all she finds is Toriâs earring. Just then Windsor arrives with his goons. Windsor and his beast-goons enter but do not find Cat. She jumped and hid in the water. After searching the place, Windsor proclaims he will find Vincent.
Cat heads back to the Precinct where she, Tess and Gabe argue about Vincentâs motive to kidnap Tori. Tess believes he took Tori for leverage. Cat thinks he took Tori to âprotect herâ. Gabe wants to convince Windsor to flatline. Cat agrees and Tess is outnumbered.
Meanwhile, Tori is tied to a tree. Vincent explains that he is actually âsavingâ her from her father. Tori breaks down after the traumatic events of the last few hours. Vincent proves Tori that he is âfreeingâ her from her father by removing a tracking device inside her wrist.
Cat runs into Reynolds in the Windsorâs Tower lobby. Reynolds propose that they go father cop/daughter cop on Windsor. While they wait for Curt, Reynolds enquires about Catâs boyfriends. When they see Windsor, Reynolds takes on the role of bad cop. Cat uses the distraction to look around. She notices the things they took from Vincentâs apartment and concludes he is in Cedar Woods.
Back at Cedar Woods, Vincent sets an intrudersâ trap. We learn that Toriâs mom tried to warn Tori about Curtâs beast-side. Vincent talks about balancing his own double life. He says it is doable with someone special in your life. Tori asks if Vincent has someone special. Vincent answers âyeahâ. Tori feels alone and scared. Cat arrives and is almost killed in Vincentâs trap, but he saves her. Vincent, Cat and Tori leave Cedar Woods. Shortly afterwards, Windsor and his beasts arrive and conclude Vincent tried to lure him there.
Cat, Vincent and Tori arrive at the Gentlemen's Club. Vincent is upset because Cat got in the way of his beast killing. Tori feels guilty for not outing her dad as a beast sooner. She didnât do it, because he bought her nice clothes. Cat is sweet and understanding. Tori asks if Cat is worried Vincent will âchangeâ and become a âbad beastâ like her father. Cat says she worries about it all the time. Cat believes they should focus on saving Curt, not killing him and mentions the possibility of âflatliningâ him. Vincent is reluctant at first but agrees.
Cat visits Curt and offers to kill him so they may bring him back as a human in exchange for Tori. Agreeing,Windsor goes to the gentlemanâs club to get strapped to a metal table and let Gabe kill him. He asks is to see his daughter one last time. Tori approaches him and Curt is all âYou donât know how much I love you, how much I need youâ. Tori touches her dad, and Windsor beasts out. Vincent beasts out too, they fight and finally Vincent rips his literal heart out.
Later at the boathouse, Vincent is working out. Cat arrives and asks Vincent what happened and he honestly replies he doesnât know. He says Windsorâs super-beast strength took him by surprise and then he went into terminator mode himself. Vincent is worried because he just took one huge step back towards beast-hood. Cat acknowledges they donât understand everything that is going on with him and that they just have to keep moving forward. Vincent says he just wishes he knew âwhat triggered itâ. The scene cuts to Toriâs penthouse, where she discovers her eyes glow.
